Question What is your take on what is happening in the world today?

by Robert Brow  (www.brow.on.ca)

The OT prophets gave us the language to interpret the Lord's reign as King and his interventions among the nations, e.g. the Exodus, the Syrians, the Edomites, the fall of Samaria, the exile under Babylon, the fall of Babylon (Isaiah 13), etc.

By viewing AD 70 as the coming that the Lord had predicted in the Synoptic Gospels (and imminently expected in the Epistles), we could retrieve all subsequent history for our OT prophetic vision of the Lord actively reigning in our world.

Consider some of the events that historians have been trained to explain merely as the result of economic, social, and political forces: The Jews from in AD 70 and 1948

The Muslim advance to the gates of Paris America, France, Russia (1919,1989), Spain, the German Reich Similar events in China, Japan, Viet Nam, Cambodia Or in Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Angola, Ruanda, Zimbabwe And in India, Iran, Afghanistan

Was the toppling of the iron curtain in 1989 mere economics?

Ordinary church members have been trained to think that what happens in these countries is nothing to do with the Lord's interventions (days of the Lord). The only interest is whether Napoleon, Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Saddam Hussain, Arafat is the Antichrist as proof that the Lord is finally going to come and do something.

It is time for us to read the OT prophets, and Jesus' prophecies for his generation, and recapture the prophetic vision of history as He reigns in every nation.
